Dr. Mihai Burai-Pătrașcu

Dr. Burai-Pătrașcu is currently a post-doctoral scholar and scientist at McGill University/Molecular Forecaster Inc. in Montreal, Canada. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Jacobs University Bremen (Germany) in 2015,and his Ph.D. from McGill University (Canada) in 2020.Working in the research group of Prof. Nicolas Moitessier, his Ph.D. work was focused on the development of computational tools in organic and medicinal chemistry, with a focus on improving and extending the FORECASTER drug discovery software platform and creating the VIRTUAL CHEMIST platform for asymmetric catalysis.

Dr. Burai-Pătrașcu has extensive experience in small molecule inhibitor design for cancer, nucleic acid modeling, asymmetric catalyst design, and high-level coding in programming languages such as C++ and Python. His work has been published in Nature Catalysis, Journal of the American Chemical Society and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, among others. He has been the recipient of several awards and grants, including the Mitacs Accelerate (Ph.D.) and Elevate (post-doctoral) fellowships, the David Pall Dissertation Award, the Alexander McFee Fellowship, and the T. Sterry Hunt Award for excellence in teaching.
