Dr. Alexandra Deaconescu

Alexandra Deaconescu graduated The Cooper Union Albert Nerken Faculty of Engineering (New York, NY), then she continued her studies in molecular biophysics, crystallography and biochemistry across the doctor’s degree program of the Rockfeller University (New York, NY).

After a postdoctoral scholarship with the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and the Howard Hughes Institute, Alexandra opened her own research laboratory in the field of structural biology at Brown University in 2014, where she is presently a professor in the Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology and Biochemistry Department.

The research studies from Alexandra Deaconescu’s laboratory focus on how cells respond to stress, particularly on the ADN deterioration. These studies are relevant in the observation of the interaction between a pathogenous and host agent and the development of the resistance to antibiotics.
